Hey there! I’m Abdelilah Amraoui, a versatile creative with a passion for design, music, and talent discovery. My creative journey is a fusion of diverse experiences. From web and logo design to co-founding a techno music label, my path is marked by turning ideas into captivating realities. I also have a knack for discovering hidden gems in the Dutch urban scene and speaking their language.
When I’m not immersed in the creative world, I dive into the realm of fashion and have worked as a stylist for iconic figures. The icing on the cake? I’ve had the privilege of collaborating on music projects and remixes with renowned artists such as ‘Love & Hip Hop’ star Somaya Reece, Texas’ finest rapper Paul Wall, celebrated for his collaborations with artists like Ashanti and Nelly, and one of the illest MCs on earth, Tech N9ne, well-known for his collaborations with Eminem, among others.
But that’s not all. I’ve also explored the world of film, making, editing, and directing music videos. It’s been a wild ride, and it’s added a unique dimension to my creative skill set.
Here’s a fun part: I’ve got this knack for discovering hidden gems in the Dutch urban scene, especially those cool cats with the fresh, street-smart vibes. Connecting with them is a breeze, especially the youth from the streets. It’s like I speak their language!
When I’m not busy discovering talent, I’m diving into the world of style and fashion. I’ve even worked as a stylist for the first European R&B act that got signed to the legendary Motown Records. Talk about an awesome experience!
Oh, and did I mention that it’s been a privilege working with Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli fame? He’s not just an artist; he’s a dear friend of mine now. A real milestone was when his new single, released on my label, was premiered on the Oprah Winfrey Show. As a part of this incredible journey, it was also a privilege to be a key figure in the national campaign of KFC. In the campaign, I was featured in a ‘Kentucky Fried Chicken’ commercial, not only as his executive music producer but also as a trusted friend. This experience was another significant milestone in my career.
In the year 2000, I co-founded “maghreb.nl,” a Dutch web portal magazine. It wasn’t just about creating a website; it was about building bridges between Dutch Moroccans and being a voice in Holland. Those days, it was tough living as an immigrant, and we wanted to change that.
“maghreb.nl” made headlines, both nationally and internationally, with groundbreaking projects. We created a voice and became an integral part of the Dutch national media landscape, representing Dutch Moroccans. At the time, it was much needed, and I’m proud to see that things have changed for the better since then. People are more open, inclusive, and kinder to each other nowadays.
Discovering artists like ‘Keizer,’ who is now well known in the Dutch media landscape, and managing female MC ‘Miss Dee,’ signing her to SONY/BMG in the early 2000s, was a pivotal part of my journey. We embarked on impactful projects, creating a voice that resonated with many. Witnessing her showcase as a supporting act for one of the UK’s biggest artists, DIZZEE RASCAL in collaboration with SONY PLAYSTATION at The Ministry of Sound in London was also a milestone in my career.
What sets me apart is my adaptability and love for pushing creative boundaries. I’m all about staying current with the latest trends and getting hands-on with new technologies.
